Aeriel Arthur, MA; RYT - Yoga & Meditation Consultant/Teacher
Aeriel has been a counselor in the mental health field for over 23 years and is excited to bring the practice of yoga and meditation to Partners for Wellness, Inc. as an adjunct therapy for those experiencing  symptoms related to depression, anxiety, addictions and trauma as well as injury and disease . Aeriel discovered the benefits of yoga and meditation after a serious injury 3 years ago.   “ Yoga has allowed me to actively participate and experience healing in my own life. In collaboration with traditional forms of treatment the practice of yoga has allowed me to experience the relationship between my breath and how it effects my body, mind and spirit.   My yoga practice has brought an aliveness to my life where the IMPOSSIBLE becomes POSSIBLE.  Over time I have been able to feel my breath (life) in parts of my body that have only held pain and despair.  My hope is to share the benefits of yoga with others.  I once believed there were a lot of reasons why I couldn’t (and wouldn’t) do yoga but now I’ve experienced the truth…I believe everyone “can do” and benefit from yoga and meditation.”

Aeriel has also been intrigued with Mandala meditation and has had success using it in her personal and professional practice and over the past few years has developed a passion for creating her own style of mandala art.  “In my own life I found the traditional form of silent meditation and it’s emphasis on breathing a bit intimidating and quite difficult, especially in the very beginning. Because it was so hard to do, even for a short time it reinforced the feeling of failure for my clients as well as myself. Mandala meditation is less intimidating; it relaxes the meditator so that they can stay in the moment, losing the constant negative chatter in their mind and just be with the coloring or gazing of the mandala.  Through this practice individuals are eventually able to move into guided meditation and  then into the practice of more traditional and familiar forms of meditation. The goal is to find a meditation experience that works for the individual so they are able to have a positive  experience with meditation that ultimately helps them on their personal journey.  As one client said to me, “It’s like really going on vacation and getting a break from all the chatter inside my head”.  The added benefit to mandala meditation is that it can be a shared meditation practice: done at home with children and/or other family members.”

Aeriel  brings her passion of hope and healing to the yoga mat; working with individuals so that they too can integrate and discover the mind-body-spirit connection within their own life creating a path for healing that will empower, strengthen and bring an aliveness to each individuals healing journey that they never dreamed possible…beginning with the healing power of their own breath.
